World's fastest supercomputer
After five years of being second place to China the US has finally unveiled a supercomputer at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee that takes back the number one spot.
The machine can process 200,000 trillion calculations per second - or 200 petaflops.China's Sunway TaihuLight supercomputer, until now the world's most powerful machine, has a processing power of 93 petaflops.Summit's initial uses will include areas of astrophysics, cancer research and systems biology.
